I just redid the trim on my windows and doors to be very similar to your window choice.

If you are using beefier 3 or 4 1 2 inch door trim 8 or 10 inch baseboards are more appropriate.
I personally think that it looks beautiful.
Also this is somewhat related but in my house i chose to have stained trim for my doors and windows in my formal room and painted in my laundry room but for the room between the stained and painted rooms my kitchen i have stained window trim but painted door trim.

Your front door trim is also a candidate for painting.

Designers more commonly use trim to highlight the wall colors by painting them a different color and they often choose a color for the door that either matches the trim or complements it.
Trim and baseboard is a pita to paint.
The options for the wainscot are many including simple wood panels beadboard raised panels and horizontal wood paneling.
I don t think it will look stupid at all but what you need is a visual.
Keep in mind also that the outside edge of the door molding has to be deep enough to accommodate the thickness of the baseboard.
I chose matching and i really think it contributes to a cohesive look especially when the windows and doors are in the same area and can be seen at the same time.
Another option is to paint the baseboard and shoe molding before installation.
And while the finish of the wainscoting can match the wood trim it doesn t have to.

This frees you to select a complementary color without worry about matching the flooring.
